Our History
The credit union is a cooperative organization operated by volunteer members formed into governing bodies. A board of seven directors governs the overall operations of the credit union. A supervisory committee examines the credit union operations and oversees the board of directors.
Members of the board and the supervisory committee are elected by the credit union membership at an annual meeting held each year in February.
We are dedicated to empowering our members to enhance their lives by achieving financial goals through our commitment to offering the most cost-effective solutions.
The Credit Union Difference
Credit Unions provide a distinct approach to banking. As a not-for-profit financial cooperative, we are exclusively owned by our members. In contrast to traditional banks, Credit Unions lack stockholders, ensuring that decisions prioritize the well-being of the members rather than driving stock value. Members wield direct influence on the credit union's direction through individual voting and the election of a voluntary Board of Directors who genuinely have the members' best interests at heart.
At a traditional bank, you’re a customer. At a credit union, you’re a member, therefore you belong. What sets Credit Unions apart is their commitment to returning profits to members in the form of reduced fees, higher dividends, and lower loan rates. True to their motto "People Helping People," Credit Unions actively engage with the community, provide financial education, and offer pathways to financial stability and success. Additionally, members' funds are secure at a Credit Union, as each individual is federally insured up to $250,000 by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA).
